10 Years of ABP Awards in One Place: Enhancing Performance at Work
Since 2014, the Association for Business Psychology’s annual Workforce Experience Awards have been the highlight of our year. The event celebrates the best real-world applications of Business Psychology theory, recognising programmes that use evidence-based design to deliver tangible results.
As announced earlier this week, the first of three new books sharing standout submissions – Enhancing Performance at Work – is now available for purchase and download. This book offers a curated collection of Business Psychology case studies from the last 10 years of Workforce Experience Awards, with a complete glossary of the theories, frameworks, and models referenced by entrants.
Whether a Business Psychology Practitioner or Student, how can you benefit from this new resource? Hear the answers below from the ABP’s Chair and Vice Chair, Claire Lish and Dr Dawn Nicholson.
For Practitioners
“The mission of the Association for Business Psychology is to help our members and others use Business Psychology to improve relationships between people and the organisations they create, with an evidence-based understanding of people’s behaviour. Because when it comes to work, everything which results in success – employee and customer engagement, efficiency and productivity, profit and happiness – is the result of good practice using Business Psychology.
“True to our mission, this book is filled with real-life examples which demonstrate how relationships between people and organisations can be, and have been, improved with Business Psychology.
“The case studies shared have been selected from finalists’ submissions to the Association’s annual Workforce Experience Awards programme, which was created to collect examples of best practice and to recognise and celebrate them. I would like to thank all who have made submissions to the Awards, generously sharing their expertise and experience. Your participation has been invaluable in demonstrating the potential of Business Psychology at work.
“As you engage with this collection, I encourage you to approach it not just as a compendium of best practices but as a source of inspiration and innovation. Let these stories challenge your assumptions, refine your strategies, and deepen your commitment to excellence in Business Psychology.”
– Claire Lish, Chair of the Association for Business Psychology, Fellow of the ABP and Chartered Fellow of CIPD
For Students
“As an academic deeply invested in the advancement of Business Psychology, I believe this collection serves a dual purpose: it bridges the gap between theory and practice and inspires a new generation of professionals to elevate their craft.
“The richness of these case studies lies not only in their diversity but also in their adherence to a unified standards framework, ensuring that each example provides both rigor and relevance. For students, this collection offers a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the multifaceted applications of Business Psychology.
“You will find practical guidance in these pages, drawn from real challenges and solutions that have been implemented, tested, and evidenced. Moreover, this collection underscores the broader impact of Business Psychology, showcasing its ability to address societal issues such as youth unemployment and road safety. By doing so, it reminds us that our work extends beyond the walls of individual organisations, touching lives and communities in profound ways.
“This book is a testament to the power of collaboration, evidence-based practice, and the enduring quest to improve working lives. May it guide and inspire you on your journey.”
– Dr Dawn H. Nicholson, Vice Chair of the Association for Business Psychology, Head of University Accreditation, Founder and Leader of the ABP’s Biz Psych Cup, Fellow of the ABP, CPsychol, Associate Fellow of the BPS, and Honorary Academic, University of Kent
